BECOMING AN INSTRUCTOR : REQUIREMENTS

Do you meet the criteria?

In order to become a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor - DSA ADI (cars) you must fulfill the following criteria:

• Hold a full UK driving licence
• Have held a car driving licence for at least 4 out of the last 6 years. (N.B. The following count towards the 4 years: a foreign driving licence, automatic car licence, or a provisional licence held after passing the test).
• Have not been disqualified from driving during the last 4 years.  
• Be a fit and proper person to have your name entered in the register. You will have to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check prior to entering the register. • Pass the qualifying exams.

N.B.  You cannot accompany a provisional licence holder unless you have held a full UK Driving Licence for 3 years and are over 21 years of age.
